Women in AI Governance
A Leadership Cohort
Overview
AI governance is emerging as a critical leadership capability, yet women remain underrepresented in shaping how organizations deploy AI responsibly. This cohort is designed to close that gap. This 8-week experience centers two things: women's leadership and AI governance excellence. You will learn governance frameworks through real-world, high-stakes contexts (such as education, where AI touches children's data and learning) that create strong, translatable principles across industries. We'll adapt them to your organizational context together. The experience culminates in a Capstone Project where you will build a governance strategy designed to turn AI risk into strategic advantage for your organization.
Why This Matters Now
Organizations are adopting AI faster than they are building AI governance with 78% of organizations reporting AI use and only 25% reporting having AI governance practices in place. (AllAboutAI, 2025) The artificial intelligence (AI) industry is facing a critical diversity crisis, with women severely underrepresented across all seniority levels. Globally, women remain underrepresented across AI and hold only 22% of AI roles, 18% of AI researcher roles, and 28% of tech leadership roles. (Stanford AI Index 2024, Accenture). This matters because governance is being defined in real time. The rules, risk thresholds, and decision rights that will shape careers, capital, and accountability for the next decade are being set now. When women are absent from these rooms, blind spots become policy, and in AI those blind spots scale into structural risk. The challenge is that business decisions are made in the language of ROI and technical feasibility. When governance cannot speak that language, it is sidelined. This cohort equips you to translate AI governance into strategic value, so you can influence decisions with the same authority technical teams bring to implementation.
What You Will Gain
By the end of this cohort, you will: ✔️Know more about core AI governance frameworks (risk assessment, data stewardship, algorithmic accountability) and explain them in simple language to colleagues. ✔️Speak confidently about AI governance in meetings and contribute meaningfully to AI governance conversations. ✔️ Identify governance gaps in your organization’s current AI approach and see entry points to start closing them. ✔️Begin developing an action plan for applying governance principles specific to your role and organizational context. ✔️Connect with a cohort of women addressing similar challenges for ongoing peer support. ✔️Develop a Capstone Project which reflects a governance strategy designed to turn AI risk into strategic advantage for your organization You won’t be an expert in eight weeks, but you will have the foundations, frameworks, confidence, and community to keep building your leadership capability.
Who This is For
✔️You are a woman who encounters AI in your organization and wants to move from observer to strategic voice. ✔️You might be a mid-career professional watching AI initiatives roll out and wondering how to contribute beyond implementation. ✔️Perhaps you are a leader navigating AI policy and needing frameworks that go beyond vendor promises, or someone in compliance, privacy, or ethics who needs to speak about AI governance as a strategic advantage. You do not need a technical background. Just curiosity about how AI decisions get made and a desire to influence them for good.
